Violet Oon is a well-known name in the local Peranakan culinary scene, and most Singaporeans would be familiar with it. By carefully curating dishes that feature Singaporean and Peranakan flavors and offering warm and sincere hospitality, Violet Oon Singapore creates an ideal dining experience that caters to all customers.
Violet Oon Singapore's signature Kueh Pie Tee dish is a heavenly combination of juicy and savory flavors. The dish features slow-cooked julienned turnip and bamboo shoots in a flavorful prawn bisque, complemented by succulent fresh prawns, and a touch of in-house chili sauce and sweet soy sauce, all served within a crispy Kueh Pie Tee shell. The dish offers a delightful blend of textures, with the crispy cups providing a nice contrast to the moist filling, while the turnips and bamboo shoots add a lovely touch of sweetness that balances the rich umami flavor of the prawn stock. Adding a quick and fiery burst of spiciness, the chili sauce is added only on top of the dish, which complements the other flavors perfectly.
We particularly enjoyed the Beef Rendang, which consisted of tender beef shin braised in a spiced sauce that featured kaffir and bay leaves, all in a creamy coconut sauce. The texture of the beef was just right, not too chewy nor too soft, and the rich and flavorful gravy had a well-balanced combination of sweet, spicy, and savory tastes. The beef was slow-cooked until it was so tender that it could easily be pulled apart with a fork, allowing the secret blend of spices to meld together and create an exciting sensory experience.
The Hainanese Pork Chop dish was another favorite of ours, and it is a beloved dish that appeals to diners of all ages. This British-Hainanese fusion dish features a crispy crust coating that encases juicy Kurobuta pork loin, and it is served with a specially made tomato sauce, steak cut fries, and sweet petit pois. The dish is highly regarded for its flavor and texture, and it is a must-try for anyone who enjoys a delicious and satisfying meal.
For dessert, we indulged in the Pandan Gula Melaka Cake, which was a perfect way to end the meal. This delightful dessert features a light and airy sponge cake infused with fresh pandan essence, layered with a classic buttercream frosting, and topped with a decadent drizzle of rich gula melaka. The combination of flavors and textures was absolutely divine and made for a satisfying and memorable end to our meal.
You can expect a luxurious and sophisticated Peranakan ambiance paired with authentic and hearty Peranakan cuisine. The dining experience is thoroughly enjoyable, unique, and welcoming, making it highly recommended for anyone looking for an exceptional meal.
