An Array of Baked Goods from the Cat in the Hat to Sweeten Your Day

Ellis Ng, a former hotel pastry chef, is the proprietor of Cat In The Hat, which is located in Golden Mile Food Centre. The stall offers an array of baked goodies like madeleines, scones, tarts, and financiers. Operating the stall is a mother-daughter duo who prepares everything afresh on-site starting at 10:30 am daily. Despite the humble menu and unassuming decor, the bakery has been making waves. As patrons queued up, they couldn't help but admire the lustrous lemon tarts with piped meringue, petite cakes adorned with edible flowers, and piles of delicate financiers - desserts that one would typically associate with a fancy cafe rather than a hawker stall.

Our top pick at Cat In The Hat is the Lemon Meringue Tart. This delicate pastry boasts a tangy and invigorating lemon filling that harmonizes perfectly with the sweet and velvety meringue topping, all while being nestled in a flaky, buttery tart crust. Another must-try tart is the Chocolate Ganache Tart, which is much-loved by customers. The ganache, mildly bitter yet delightful, is velvety and dense, with an intense chocolate flavor that satisfies your sweet cravings without burning a hole in your pocket.

Don't miss out on their delectable cakes! The Carrot Walnut Cake is a seasonal offering that's definitely worth a taste. It's a perfectly moist carrot cake that's not too dense, brimming with chopped walnuts, and topped with a luscious cream cheese frosting. Another must-try is the Brown Butter Spiced Banana cake, which is dense and chewy, with a delightful aroma of ripe bananas, making it a delectable indulgence.

Cat in the Hat undoubtedly satisfied our desire for scrumptious yet reasonably priced desserts! However, be aware that their goodies tend to sell out rapidly, so it's recommended to visit them in the morning.
